The Reis System was the third
system occupied by the DLSF after the NI’s founding. It also is one of
the smallest, with only three planets orbiting its small, pinkish-white
sun. The system is not very remarkable, save for the valuable Tzo Crystals
mined from the third planet in the system. This discovery is what lead
to the DLSF occupation of the system and colonization of the planet,
named Yvonis. However, other than the military force guarding the world,
the system is usually relatively empty and receives little traffic.
Still, the two outer planets resources that make the system very interesting
to historians and geologists…

Notes: Juur is the closest planet to Reis, and a truly unremarkable rock
in space. There are no redeeming factors or minerals that would
make a colony or mining base here worthwhile. Therefore it has been left untouched by the NI. |

Notes: Klast
is the second planet in the Reis system, just over one standard astronomical
unit from its sun. While the planet itself offers
little to the DLSF and the NI, it was, upon discovery, the object of much scientific study. The blue planet, criss-crossed with blue methane oceans and showered gently be methane rain, is uninhabitable, and the various gases filling the atmosphere (argon, radon, neon) are toxic but quite common. It is an event in ancient galactic past here that was of such interest to historians. Eons ago, a mysterious alien craft, little over two hundred meters long, crash-landed on this world into a lake of methane. When scientists descended upon it, they were amazed; the hull composition is of a totally alien metal, the control systems are advanced beyond anything known today, and there were no signs of the ship ever harboring any habitation. The ship itself was nearly totaled, and it was obvious that it would never have flown again. Any survivors of the crash could not have survived the hostile atmosphere of the planet itself. Upon inspection of the computer core, the scientists found it relatively intact, though its alien structure was radically different from anything they had encountered before. The science teams studied what they could, then pulled out to wait for an excavation team to remove the ship and take it back to Kolath. However, in the single day during the team’s transit in which the site was left unoccupied, something happened. When the force arrived, the ship was gone. It had already been pulled from its ancient grave, by unknown means. No trace of the ship was left, and no trace has been found to this day. It is considered a sad loss of what incredible technologies might have been discovered if the ship had been successfully excavated. |

Notes: Yvonis
is the outermost planet of the Reis system, and the reason of the system’s
original occupation by the DLSF. Yvonis is the
only source of Tzo Crystals in this part of the sector. These crystals, used in the high-powered focusing lenses of superscalar power converters, are extremely rare, with only two hundred known naturally-occurring sources in our galaxy. They are also prized for their pinkish brilliance when exposed to light, and are a rare form of jewelry, albeit an expensive one. These crystals form in extremely complex patterns, and have been a source of much scientific debate over the years. It is believed that they could actually be applied to a number of other uses, though limits in technology have hindered the discovery of what those used might be. Yvonis is the home of a single, large
mining colony that burrows deep beneath the pinkish surface and mountains.
