The Grummium System

The Grummium System was the second DLSF-occupied system after the NI’s founding, and is second only to Kolath in importance. The system’s third planetary body also serves as the quadrant’s primary food producer.

Grummium I (Koros)
Notes: Koros is the first planet in the Grummium system. Its closeness to the sun and chemical composition make the planet highly
radioactive, producing naturally radioactive materials such as uranium. Due to the intense radiation, no permanent mining colony has been
established, though occasionally specially-shielded haulers will fly down briefly to extract some of its valuable, naturally radioactive
materials.

Grummium II (Halen)
Notes: Halen is the first of (surprisingly) two terran-class, Type-I atmospheric planets in the Grummium system. It is also the system’s (and
the quadrant’s) chief food producer, as the expansive, grassy plains provide an excellent atmosphere for farming. When the New Imperium
first moved into the sector and re-explored the system, they were surprised to find a working, contented colony of humans who had
apparently settled the world during the expansion days of the Old Republic. The New Imperium quickly provided protection and
incorporation of these peoples into the NI in exchange for the planet’s cooperation and use for producing much-needed food for the NI.

Halen is naturally covered in grasslands, and contains few trees or mountainous regions. Consequently, the planet’s occupants lived in small
huts and villages until discovery by the NI, using outdated, Old Republic-technology machines and methods to produce their food. But, with
the planet’s small population, only a small percentage of the denizens were actually farmers. Others chose to raise herds of lecchu, a
multi-legged, tall-necked, long-haired mammal used for milk and meat. These creatures would fill the countrysides, grazing on the tall
grasses and shying from the occasional brush-snake.

Before NI-occupation, Halen already had a stable form of self-government, organized into independent districts consisting of elected council
members, usually respected elders with many years of experience. Family is the chief and most important unit of the Halenans, which the
humans refer to themselves.

Due to the lack of many trees and ore sources, most building supplies have had to be brought in from outside the system, though the NI has
been careful to preserve the environment and the traditions of the Halenans. Thus the relationship between the NI and the Halenians has
been a healthy one, and they are glad to share their planet’s wealth of food with the rest of the New Imperium.

Grummium III (Seonia)
Notes: Seonia is uninhabited. It is the only other Type-I planet in the Grummium system, yet holds no indigenous sentient lifeforms. It is,
however, full of a variety of species of animals, most living in the vast forests covering the most of Seonia. However, life has persevered in
the drylands and rocky mountain regions occupying the other regions, as well.

Most of Seonia is covered with forests of tall, evergreen trees. The ancient, massive Petrified Forest is a popular attraction for visitors, who
are awed by the sight of the huge trees towering several times the height of the rest of the forest.

In the winter, snow falls around most areas except the equator, offering a gorgeous scenery in the forests and mountains. Unfortunate that
no one is around to see it. The animals, however, are plentiful, and a full variety live in the forest and around the many lakes covering the
planet’s surface. Seonia’s sky is a crystal-clear blue, offering superb views of the starlit-sky of Epsilon Sector and the beautiful Galbagos
Nebula even from the surface.

Most of the Seonia’s water is actually comprised of small to huge-sized freshwater lakes and rivers. Only a relatively small ocean in the
southern hemisphere, dividing the lower continents before the southern icecap, is not composed of fresh water.

Seonia is not home to any sapient intelligent species. The contented, peaceful Halenans on Grummium II studied the planet with telescopes
and even primitive probes, but were never able to mount a colonization effort. After NI-occupation, colonization plans were made, but
surprisingly they have not (to this date) been carried out. Thus, until that time, Seonia will remain a peaceful, quiet place where travelers
occasionally stop for a vacation or traders use as a temporary base.

Seonis’ two moons, Movn and Jeod, are typical selenic worlds with rocky/dust surfaces. However, the beauty of the tranquil Seonis is
enhanced by the sight of the two moons, which always hang close to one another. Movn, the larger of the two, is an eye-catching pinkish-red
with a number of craters marking the lunar surface, while Jeod is smaller and slightly green-tinged.

Grummium IV (Geredia)
Notes: Geredia is a gas giant, and has been called the "little brother" to the massive Ionis, the fifth planet in the system. It has an extremely
slow orbit and milder "weather" (intense wind and lightning storms) than Ionis, which seems to be the exact opposite in nearly every
respect. Geredia’s distinctive blue and white cloud-covered atmosphere is a soothing sight for travelers, as is its small band of white rings
composed mostly of ice crystals. Another interesting aspect of Geredia is that it has almost no axial tilt, quite strange for a gas giant. With
only 2 degrees, "seasons" are virtually nonexistent.

Geredia has five moons, though none are remarkable. Most are composed of simple rock and ice, which seems to be the most common,
"standard" lunar surface throughout the entire galaxy.

Grummium V (Ionis)
Notes: Ionis is, by far, the largest planet in the Grummium system, dwarfing its "brother" gas giant, Geredia. This orange, red, and white
cloud-studded planet is the most recognizable landmark of the system. The beautiful world attracts a number of tours that specialize in the
twice-a-year event known as the Auroral Displays, when Ionis is closest to Geredia. The extra gravity creates a chemical chance in the
planet’s atmosphere, ionizing it in a beautiful and exotic display of lights and lightning.

An NI scientific research station, Ionis Prime, is in place in mid orbit around the planet to study the Auroral Displays more carefully.
Ionis has twelve moons, none of which have yet been colonized.

Grummium VI (Aenor)
Notes: Aenor is the outermost planet in the system, and has been procured for use by the DLSF as a military installation and planetary
defense system. The planet itself is a relatively unremarkable rock, but its situation in the system is a popular staging point for training
operations for squadrons on transfer, and a port of call of many patrol ships passing through the system. A DLSF military outpost has been
built there to act as a repair/resupply depot and staging base for trainee and support squadrons. Zero and light-G Stormtrooper training are
also occasionally performed from Aenor military base.
